feedback

I showed my teachers and some classmates my video so far asking for their view and to write me some feedback on it
There have been some very good ideas, and have given me good advice to make the whole video clearer, for example, making the lead singer more obvious and to use more lip syncing to allow him to look more obvious. Much of the feedback was postive towards my video, but some also added tips and pointers as what they would do different, for example to add a montage of pouring and drinking drinks.

Final/ending plan with location shots

The final scen will feature Travis walking into a 'house party'
In this clip I am planning on showing him, walking towards the house, entering the house, greeting people, and then shots of him drinking shots with friends for the final clip as the music starts to blur out.

Examples of locations and examples shots I plan to use :
Although this doesnt show the right house or even the right setting or actor, it shows my desired shot of someone walking towards the house and front door with the camera behind him almost following him into the house.

Another shot within the 'party' will be pouring drinks/shots and drinking them together in a party/friendship atmosphere. Here are some examples of what my shots may look simular too.

I am also hoping to get some lip syncing and performance shots of Travis within the party, I am planning on having a simular style to Kid Cudi's Just what i am video where he is singing and he has the party behind him, hes there drinking with mates, having a good time.

Plus the idea for the very first scene will be him plugging in his ipod, and starting the music to play. An example of what this may look like would be

Evaluation question 4

4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? I have used many different forms of technology throughout this project. To begin with the blog you are reading. Blogger has been a very helpful way to store all my ideas and work, as to show it off and receive feedback from other members of my media class and views and opinions from my experienced teachers. I have also used Flickr and YouTube to upload my work on their sites and I have been able to share and embed my work on to blogger so that my followers on there could see my work too. I have used many forms of it when researching, especially the internet, I have been a frequent user of YouTube, as well as Google to search for other videos and other ideas and plans I hadn’t thought of or considered. I also used Google to my advantage, using it to find official work made by artists who are already famous for their work within the music industry e.g. I searched for Chris Brown’s recent Album cover, I looked at everything it needed to legally include and what the official final cover looked like. I also used social websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to gain feedback on my work, allowing me to improve and try out other/new ideas. I have used YouTube on occasions to see music videos on there to see what mine compares to and what techniques are used allowing me to experiment with them myself. I used a handful of different technologies when it came to doing my digipak and advert. The list includes, Photoshop, Instagram, Snapseed, PicJointer and PowerCam as well as of course using a digital camera to take the pictures myself. I started by using the internet for research and blogger to put all of my research and planning on there so I knew what I was aiming for and what I wanted to create. I then used my digital camera to take pictures of my artists, locations as well as props I was planning on using within both my digipak and advert. Once I had the photos I was happy with I used technology again on my iPhone using apps such as snapseed to transform the images I had already taken to create a new look to them I then used Instagram on my iPhone to receive feedback on my images. I finished this all off and linked them all together by using Photoshop. Here I created my final work making my final digipak and advert using the programme to my full advantage using advantaged techniques on the programme to help me achieve the professional look I was aiming for. I again used new as well as previously used technologies throughout filming my video. For example I used blogger, the internet and other sources to help me research and plan what I wanted to film and to also help me gain and receive quality feedback. I have also used a video camera and read online guides (Such as http://www.angelfire.com/movies/nobudgetsfx/musicvideo.html ) to help me get the best out of my time and to help me film a professional standard music video. Once I had all my clips I used a handful of different programmes to edit my video, personally I found MoviePlusX6 to be the most handy and effective for what I wanted. I managed to use it to a high class of level, allowing me to insert texts and lip sync effectively as well as finding it easy to master and use. I later uploaded my final video onto YouTube and later onto my blogger account as well as social networks to see what everyone thought of my final video. In my evaluation I have used… These are just some off the technologies I have used and certainly do not include all of the technologies I have used throughout my project.

Evaluation Question 2

2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? I am happy with my final pieces, and feel that the final pieces are an effective combination. To start with my digipak and advert, I have managed to link them both pretty well, making it clearly noticeable that they link together and are the same artist/album, I managed to do this by using the same fonts, and colour scheme on them. This makes it instantly recognisable and easy to link the two. I have also managed to create a ‘religious’ feel across them both, In God We Trust Amen ✝ Was used on the advert creating the religious side on it, and on the digipak I have created two sides dedicated to his religious views, inserting a cross, a font that says Pray (also linking in with the title), and inserting In God We Trust once again on one of the panels-linking it again with the same phrase being used on the advert. To finish with the religious theme I have created, I chose my songs carefully, choosing some that are clearly obviously linked in with Christianity, for example ‘No church in the wild’ ‘New God Flow’ ‘Jesus Walks’. I again used the same sponsors on both products and made this pretty obvious placing them in the same corners giving them a professional looking finish to the products again making the link between them instantly recognisable which I believe makes them an effective combination. At first my video may be hard to link to my digipak and advert, but when compared together there are many similarities linking them all together. The start of my final video I have used the same colour scheme and have even used the ‘Travis’ logo (used on digipak and advert) to help link all the products together the mise en scene used on both the digipak and within the video are the same again making the link easy to see. And perhaps the most obvious link to make is the artist-Travis. He is on the Digipak as well as being the main star in his video. On my digipak I decided to use blurred effects I did this in a number of ways, I used programmes and apps to help me use their effects and tools as well as using contrasts, colours, blurring and lighting effects to improve the final products/pictures to be used, I also wanted a similar effect in the video to make it look a little less than perfectly neat but I also didn’t want it to look scruffy and poorly edited/filmed. I did this by playing and experimenting with colours, lighting and effects I could use on my camera, and I am happy with the final piece as I believe they both have similar effects and a similar finish to them. When we focus on my mise en scene and clothing in particular I once again I think my final products are effective and link well together, my instructions for clothing and what to wear was quite relaxed and wasn’t too strict, for example for the two males that appear in the video I told them to wear skinny jeans and a sweatshirt/jumper hats were optional, and for the female member who also appeared in the video was again quite relaxed on what to wear, I simply asked for pre-party /house party wear, this consisted off mini shorts, a classic white vest top with logos, and quite heavy makeup, all the cast wore vans which matched the rest of their outfit. The location in which we chose to film in majorly consisted within my house, this was simple and an obvious place to decide to film, it fitted well with the ‘pre drinking’ scene and it allowed us to easily show them having fun before the real party began. Also this location allowed us to include walking in and walking out of the house to show that they were going out. It gave us a nice beginning and ending to the video in which made it clear what they were doing and were they were.
